Remembering Eric, Home Visit Library Volunteer
It is with great sadness that we say farewell to one of our much-loved and longest serving Home Visits Library Service’s Volunteers, Mr Eric Leppard.
Eric was one of the first cohort of volunteers who helped establish the service over fifteen years ago and volunteered as a driver delivering books into his eighties and until his ‘retirement ‘last year. A dedicated and passionate volunteer, Eric truly believed in giving back to his local community. His volunteer career spanned over a quarter of a century and, in addition to his library service work, he undertook a variety of roles with local organisations including; Victim Support South London, where he provided support and assistance to victims of crime attending Wimbledon Magistrates Court; Home-Start Merton; Volunteer Centre Merton and Deen City Farm. In more recent years he also took on a role as a local Healthy Walk leader, encouraging residents to stay fit and socially connected by joining others for regular walks in our local parks and green spaces. We are very grateful for the time he freely gave to volunteering.
Eric will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. Eric had a wonderful sense of humour as well as being a caring and committed Merton Resident. We are very grateful for the time he freely gave to volunteering. Eric will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
