Celebrate the final weekend of We Are Merton at 60

From street parties to Merton's biggest ever festival, see what's on and join the celebration

This year, our wonderful and unique borough turns 60 years old.

To honour this milestone and shine a light on our brilliant communities, we launched We Are Merton at 60, a five-week programme of events, culture and celebration running from 1st of April through early May.

From community-led festivals to borough-wide planting projects, this celebration has brought residents together, showcased local talent, and marked the beginning of an exciting new era for Merton.

What’s been happening?

The programme has featured:

We Are Merton at 60’ is about more than just celebration, it’s about Civic Pride. It’s a moment for us all to reflect on what makes Merton special, and look ahead to a greener, more connected, and more vibrant future.

This anniversary also marks the beginning of a three-year cultural investment programme, funded through the Mayor of London’s Cultural Impact Award and matched by the council. Watch this space for exciting announcements as this next chapter unfolds.
